SKILLED’s 2008 Apprentice of the Year is Hugh Boucher from Victoria. Our National Apprentice of the Year Award recognises the valuable contribution of our apprentices, promoting and rewarding their outstanding achievements. Hugh completed his certificate III in Engineering (Mechanical) at Box Hill TAFE last year and is now completing his certificate IV in Engineering along with an evening course in welding. Bruce Bayley, COO of SKILLED Group Commercial Services presented Hugh with the magnificent perpetual trophy (made in 2006 by SKILLED employee Matt Robinson), a smaller trophy to keep and a cheque for $1000 at a celebration awards dinner in Eltham on 5 March. Hugh works for client Camatic Pty Ltd, a manufacturer of commercial seating for stadiums, cinemas and the performing arts. He enjoys hands on work, has a strong mechanical aptitude and has a commitment to quality workmanship. Hugh believes his apprenticeship with SKILLED has been an enriching and life-changing experience. It has boosted his confidence and given him a clear sense of purpose, not only as a tradesman but also as a member of his community. Congratulations, Hugh! Date: July 2009
