If you answered yes to any of these questions, or have another industry career you are interested in pursuing SKILLED Trades Apprenticeship may be just for you.
A SKILLED Apprenticeship is an employment based training arrangement where there is an opportunity to combine practical experience in the workplace with structured training.
Apprenticeship training can be undertaken on-the-job, off-the-job or as a combination of both. The pattern of training is negotiated with SKILLED’s clients in consultation with SKILLED’s local training provider.
Apprenticeships offer a real advantage by providing a nationally recognised qualification and skills, which provide the basis for further education and training.
In most cases, where an Apprenticeship is obtained through SKILLED, the State Training Authority will pay for the training costs.
Most apprenticeships and traineeships require basic numeracy and literacy skills. Completion of year 10 is usually the required standard, however, an interest or flair for a particular industry is also a major consideration.
Depending on the type of Apprenticeship, some additional criteria may need to be satisfied, eg: some previous training, higher level of education.
